The Big 5 0
I have finally made it to the BIG 50. As a young girl I thought that you were old at 50, however as I have reached this plateau in life I do not feel old. I have thought about this throughout this week, these last 50 years has really gone by fast. Of course there have been some rough slow years but the majority has flown. I thought this morning its not likely I will live to be 100, and really who wants to. But in thinking this I thought what do I have 20 or 30 years left? Boy do I have to get busy if I am going to do all I want to do before I leave this world or am to old and decrepit to do it. My little bucket list: I do want to go to Montana, Wyoming, Alaska, Yosemite, San Antonio, Grand Canyon, a tropical beach, I wouldn't mind Hawaii but I know Joey will never go there, Niagara Falls, Maine and the only place not in USA would be Italy. I want to see my grandchildren play sports and graduate school and hopefully get married. I want to have my bills paid up, I would like to write a childrens book, I would like to be a size 8 or 10 again, HA!!!I would like to do pottery again, and learn to paint furniture. We will see what the next 50 years hold.....

Types of showers
This is one type of shower, they were bad last night... |
I don't usually take pictures but this is my only daughters wedding shower |
This is a card tree shower |
Aunt and sister-in-law they helped host the party |
This is grandmother and her sister and sister-in-law |
People are very busy today, so we had a Thursday evening shower instead of the weekend.
All the hostesses have very busy schedules so this helped them out.
Audrey had a nice turnout despite the storms across the county. It got started alittle later than expected because of no power and everyone had to bring their foods to cook at Kim's house and some had to take showers. Audrey is not your typical wedding girl everything she does is alittle out of the box, I don't know where she gets this from, LOL, since her and Wesley have a lot of things already for a home, and she is not getting china, she needs things like a shovel, rakes, water hoses, closet organizers, tools, and there are somethings she doesn't even know she needs right yet. Since her engagement is pretty short, they have not had the time to go out and register for anything that is where she came up with the gift card tree. After they are married and settled in they can go to Lowes, Target or Walmart and figure out what they need for their new home. It is not what the older generation thinks is kosher but I have raised a realist, don't waste other peoples time and money on things you don't need or want, living in general is to expensive today.

Narcassim
We have had a lot of conversations lately about narcissism and how can you stop it, are you one, do narcissist think they are narcissistic. My niece at dinner the other night said what is a that you are talking about, I said well it would be like your mother falls and breaks her leg and that night you have a party to go to and you are mad because she broke her leg and can't take you there. She said I guess I am a arsonist, I laughed and said you don't start fires. LOL......
However, I have come to realize that we all have narcissism in our veins, do you say I'm not giving them a present till they get old enough to appreciate it and say thank you, (your gift giving is about you), how about I hate that she is so sick maybe I can help but you know my stomach as been hurting so much lately (her sickness leads back to how if effects you), I'm so sorry you have had this death in the family I couldn't enjoy myself at dinner for all the sadness in everyone's life,(your sadness effects their happiness), I can't be escorted down the aisle at the wedding, it makes me so nervous for people to look at me, (my comfort is my far more important than the special event). These are just a few of the comments I have had to listen to over the course of a month. I finally blew today with Josh, he called to tell me how much he didn't like the shirt that Audrey had picked out for him to wear at the wedding, his comment was (it just didn't feel right). I saw the shirt on him, it looked great, I paid for it so there was no money out of his pocket. I finally had had enough, I told him there are things he does, things he likes, things he says that just bug the crap out of me but as we get older we learn life isn't all about me. We might want it to be, we might live like it is, but hopefully as we mature we realize there is a bigger picture, that we are not entitled to every little comfort we feel we deserve and every happy, sad or tragic event that happens in our life doesn't always have to be about how I feel or how it effects only me. Philippians 2:4,5 " Don't look out for your own interest, but take an interest in others too. You must have the same attitude that Christ had."
